About the SebastianStrong Foundation
The SebastianStrong Foundation aims to discover targeted, less harmful treatments for pediatric cancers, while also helping alleviate the hardships faced by affected children and their families. The organization funds innovative research through its annual Discovery Science Award, having contributed $4M to date for pediatric cancer studies at major institutions. Their efforts center on supporting promising but underfunded research, in collaboration with top pediatric cancer doctors and other foundations, to bring hope to children and families dealing with cancer.
Kayaking the Keys for Hope
From May 13th to May 17th, the SebastianStrong Foundation will be hosting Kayaking the Keys for Hope, a weeklong journey that embodies the strength, resilience, and optimism at the heart of their mission. A team of paddlers will navigate the sparkling waters from Key Largo to Key West, a challenging 110-mile voyage. Along the way, they will be raising awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research, as well as honoring children who have fought or are currently fighting this disease. As the journey ends in Key West, children and families affected by childhood cancer will join the paddlers for the final mile.
RockItCoin’s Connection to Sebastian Strong
At RockItCoin, the mission of the SebastianStrong Foundation hits close to home. Our Head of Operations, Matt Thomas, knows firsthand the challenges and triumphs of childhood cancer. His son, Jake, is now 5 years cancer-free – a true testament to the strength and resilience of these young warriors. Matt and Jake will be participating in Kayaking the Keys for Hope, paddling alongside other brave individuals to raise funds and awareness for this important cause.
